*****A BURNING PERMIT IS REQUIRED FOR ALL OUTDOOR BURNING*****
You can obtain a permit free of charge by calling the fire station @ (517) 627-1157. From the main menu press 3 and listen to the prompts that follow.
If wind and weather conditions are favorable for burning, you need to leave your name, address, telephone number, and type of fire your will be having.
Your permit is issued automatically when you leave your information and you can start burning immediately. In the event conditions are unfavorable, you will be notified when you press 3 that burning has been suspended for that day.
Permits are issued daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and are VALID FOR THAT DAY ONLY!!!
Late night campfires may extend into the early morning hours; however fires MUST be attended at ALL TIMES and MUST be FULLY extinguished before leaving it. Permits may be revoked at anytime if a fire is deemed to be a nuisance or hazard to others.
Campfires (City and Township)
Recreational fires may be on the ground or in a portable fire pit and should be a safe distance from any structure or fence. Burning is limited
to natural wood products only! Construction type materials, grass and leaves are not allowed. For further conditions and regulations,
please refer to your local jurisdictions burning ordinance.
Brush & Leaves Fires (Township Only)
Brush and other yard waste fires should not be located near a roadway, structure or property line. The burning of petroleum based products,
shingles, tires, plastics or treated or untreated construction material is NOT allowed. A permit is not required in the township for fires enclosed and covered
in a metal or masonry container with holes in the top no larger that 3/4".
